Extracurricular/Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR) Club 5/29/2024 NORTH STUDENT ACTIVITIES 24-25 School Year 06/30/2024 Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR) Sponsor Job Description Position Title: Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR) Reports To: Director of Student Activities Position Statement: The sponsor of Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR) will supervise students during weekly meetings. The sponsor will organize approved fundraisers throughout the year in order to meet the needs of the club's expenses. The sponsor will supervise students in planning and executing events throughout the year around the topic of social justice and racial equity.Essential Functions:
? Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the club. Goals of the Club: The goal of SOAR is to create an inclusive and supportive environment open to all students who are interested in engaging in the school's equity work. SOAR will develop programs and educational opportunities in order to understand and educate on the system of oppression, institutional racism and effects of racism throughout society. The sponsor will plan and host events during: Race and Identity Week, Black History Month, and Stand Against Racism. Calendar: August through May Weekly meetings (Day is TBD) 3:30 pm to 5pm Hours Per Week: 1-2 hours per week for meetings not including events such as Identity Week, RAce Week, Stand Against Racism, which may require additional time for planning purposes. Building: Niles North and Niles West Performance Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
