PRIMARY PURPOSE

This role sits in the People Operations Division. The Senior Training and Development Specialist delivers HR expertise in the area of training and development. In addition, this role provides support with employee relations. The senior specialist will create, plan, and run learning programs that play a key part in enhancing the competencies of our employees by developing and delivering trainings that meet the needs of the organization and imbedding our core values into our culture. They will be responsible for conducting training needs assessments, designing engaging curriculum and learning materials, and overseeing all aspects of the training program. They will also provide day-to-day coaching and advice to managers and employees on variety of employee relations matters including performance management and policy interpretation.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND/OR DUTIES
1. Partner with Director, Human Resources and hiring managers to understand the business units near and long-term learning and development goals and requirements. Translate those business requirements into high impact learning strategies and initiatives.

2. Assess training needs, develop curriculum, and deliver training sessions to improve workplace performance and align with the company's core values. Manage the administration of training and development processes, maintain quality standards, and contribute to the company's diversity objectives.

3. Build annual training program, develop training curriculum, instructional materials, aids, manuals and deliver the courses. Direct structured learning experiences and periodically evaluate ongoing programs to assess training effectiveness and monitor the results. Adjust program as required to ensure continuous improvement. Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify training gaps and develop targeted solutions to address them. Support acclimatization of new hires to the business and support orientation sessions.

4. Serve as the company's training and development lead. Advance innovative ideas and practical applications to advance the professional growth of our leaders, employees, and teams. Curate and deliver foundational and advanced trainings aligned to learning strategy and leadership development programs.

5. Keep abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques. Conduct trends analyses, draw conclusions and make recommendations. Report on progress towards goals and accomplishments.

6. Respond to employee relations matters including performance management and formal complaints such as discrimination and harassment by conducting thorough and unbiased investigations that include but are not limited to conducting the in-take meeting, formulating the investigation plan, fact finding, gathering facts/data, and conducting witness interviews. Prepare final report and make recommendations regarding appropriate action and response.

7. Develop collaborative relationships with managers and employees to identify points of conflict at the early stages so that proactive measures to de-escalate issues can be taken and/or an early resolution achieved. Provide guidance to ensure consistent adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state laws/regulations.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/ work experience required. Master's degree and PHR/SPHR Certification desirable.

2. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive training and HR experience with 5 years cumulative experience in Training and Employee Relations. Proven experience in designing multiple training events in a corporate setting. Hands on experience managing simple to complex, high risk Employee Relations cases from intake to investigation to resolution. Experience in Organizational Development a plus.

  • Excellent instructional design skills, and attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated skills/strength in consultation, and research and assessment of HR programs.
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management software.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with talent management and succession planning.
  • Ability to conduct cost-benefit analysis and calculate training ROI.
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and in database software.


4. Remote/Hybrid Work Eligibility: This position is eligible for telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements at the discretion of the Supervisor. Employees may be required to work at CNA headquarters or other work locations resulting in changes to the scheduled telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements.
