Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. Wells-Barnett Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship reflects the University's Vincentian mission, which includes a scholarly commitment to the areas of race, equality, social justice, and advocacy for historically oppressed and underserved populations. The Vincentian mission is reinforced by the principles that informed Ida B. Wells-Barnett's advocacy of civil and human rights for Black people. The fellowship is housed in DePaul's Department of African and Black Diaspora Studies. Ida B. Wells-Barnett fellows will teach three courses (half of a usual tenure-line teaching load) through that department across the 2024-25 academic year. DePaul's academic year consists of three ten-week quarters. Specific courses and scheduling will be determined in consultation with the chair of the Department of African and Black Diaspora Studies. All Fellows are expected to present their research to the DePaul community and participate meaningfully in the life of the Department of African and Black Diaspora Studies, its students, and the independent Center for Black Diaspora. Fellows will also engage students through recruitment, mentorship, and student-facing events. Required Qualifications: We welcome applications from PhDs in Black/Africana Studies as well as related humanities or social science fields. However, all candidates should endeavor to ensure that their materials reflect their commitment to the guiding concerns and approaches of Black Studies. *Eligibility is restricted to those who have received their PhD no earlier than 2021 and who will have the PhD in hand by July 2024.* Appointment of the Ida B. Wells-Barnett teaching fellow will be for the academic year 2024-2025. The fellowship may be extended for a second year, based on review and budget approval. DePaul University will provide the fellow with a competitive stipend, office space, and modest funds for moving expenses, travel, and research. This is also a benefits-eligible position.
