Spindle Polishing Technician CWW Back End Nights

Shift: Back End Nights 6 pm- 6 am Thursday- Saturday and alternating Wednesdays

ASML is looking for individuals who have exceptional attention to detail, skilled at precision tasks and passionate about cutting-edge technology! If this sounds like you, we have exciting opportunities within our Optical Fabrication team.

Our processing competencies include machining glass materials, grinding and polishing surfaces of optical components, operating deposition chambers, aligning and assembling glass parts, and measuring optical characteristics using advanced metrology equipment. Join us in producing high-quality optical assemblies!

Under minimal supervision, pitch polish optics to required specifications using conventional spindle polishing machines. Clean, inspect, and test optics using a variety of equipment. Verify the accuracy of finished product, as well as support process and product development.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities
  • Ability to polish precision optics on conventional spindles.
  • Ability to work safely on fragile high value optics.
  • Perform blocking and unblocking of parts.
  • Ability to work with pitch, pressing out and cutting laps.
  • Perform visual surface inspection of all optical components to ISO standards.
  • Protect and clean components.
  • Measure work-piece for conformance to specifications using various measuring equipment, including but not limited to the Zygo Interferometers
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Follows written and verbal English work instructions that describe the process and the required measurements.
  • Possesses blueprint interpretation skills.
  • Be familiar with using the following measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, and pH meters.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to supervisors and co-workers on all shifts
  • Maintain a safe operating environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Candidate will be required to wear PPE where appropriate and embrace the ASML 5S requirements.
Education and experience
  • Previous optical spindle polishing knowledge is a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Intermediate mathematical skills including use of basic math and geometry.
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus.
Skills
  • Ability to work individually or in a team setting with other technicians and/or engineers.
  • Ability to cross train in a flexible manufacturing cell environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in small groups to operators, management and engineers.
Other information
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, pitch, solvents, and polishing slurry.
  • May also be exposed to laser energy, magnetic fields and open flames.
  • Typically handles parts weigh less than 35 pounds.
  • Production areas are maintained at 70 to 76 degrees and 40 to 50% relative humidity
  • The noise level in the manufacturing areas is usually moderate
