Description

Preble Street's Teen Services programs work together to offer access to casework, shelter, housing, food, and other essential services 24/7, 365 days a year to youth experiencing homelessness. Teen Shelter Services, including the Teen Center and Joe Kreisler Teen Shelter, is a hub of services for homeless and runaway youth, offering 24/7 access to shelter and providing a warm, safe space with access to meals, basic necessities, and support in a low-barrier setting.

A Caseworker position is currently available to work a first shift schedule with Teen Shelter Services. Caseworkers work with vulnerable youth in a team environment, providing case management and supportive services, staffing the Teen Center, and providing crisis intervention and support.

The schedule for this full-time (40 hour/week) position is Sunday - Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.


Qualifications

Teen Services Caseworker qualifications include:



  • A bachelor's degree in social work or related field and experience relevant to working with youth experiencing homelessness.
  • Understanding of and alignment with Preble Street's mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and commitment to providing low-barrier services.
  • Strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to maintain documentation of services.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.



Eligibility for employment with Teen Services also requires that staff be at least 21 years of age; hold certification or become certified in First Aid and CPR (on-site training opportunities offered); provide proof of education (diploma or transcript); and have acceptable background check results. Teen Services staff also must attend recurrent, regularly scheduled trainings, which are provided on-site.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $22.45 per hour. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:




  • 4 weeks/160 hours (accrued) vacation time, 20 Days/160 hours (accrued) sick time, 4 Days/32 Hours Personal Time, 12 paid holidays
