About This Role:

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University seeks a Diagnostic Technician II. The person in this position will participate in the performance of rabies serum neutralization antibody analyses on human and animal sera and rabies antigen detection on animal tissue samples. For human sera testing, the individual must meet the Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA) qualifications and requirements for laboratory personnel outlined below. He/she will be responsible for the interpretation and reporting of results and maintaining the quality of test results and reports. The person in this position will also assist in quality assurance, including database and record management, program operations including monitoring quality control data and SOP preparation and updates. Other duties may include assisting with cell culture and maintaining cell lines, participating in communication and outreach to clients and performing quality documentation and scanning. The successful applicant must possess excellent team work, communication and interpersonal skills.

Worksite Options:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires an associate degree and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor degree in Biology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or related studies
  • Competent computer skills including word processing, databases, spreadsheets and data entry 1-3 years working experience
  • Must have at least 24 credit hours of any combination of Biology and Chemistry to meet CLIA requirements. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
  • Experience in a health-related field
