Job Summary
The Branch Manager manages a branch staff with three or more employees; Responsible for the day-to day operations, including customer service, product sales, and security in accordance with the Bank's objectives; May assume responsibility for lending under strict credit restrictions; Provides leadership, training, and supervision to staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee branch staff including coordinating, planning and assigning work schedules, answering questions and solving problems posed by the staff, conducting evaluations, and motivating staff to meet performance levels
- Supervise all teller operations for accuracy, efficiency, and quality customer service.
- Prepare various reports including Currency Transaction Reports (CTR's) and IRS Reports.
- Handle vault function which includes calculating money requirement of branch and Tellers' cash requirements; ordering money; verifying, buying and selling cash for all Teller stations; daily opening and closing of the vault and ensuring proper and secure shipment of all cash.
- Manage ATM operations to include supplying the equipment with cash, envelopes, and receipt paper; processing deposits; balancing; handling problems.
- Review procedures and recommend changes to improve the service and thereby enhance the quality of the bank's customer service.
- Participate in a team effort to cross-sell other services of the bank.
- May occasionally perform duties of a Teller and/or a Customer Service Representative which includes performing all related opening, closing, and balancing activities; assisting customers with banking needs (deposits, withdrawals, credit card cash advances, federal tax deposits, issuing traveler's checks, cashier's checks, EE bonds, money orders, handling commercial deposits and night deposits etc.)
If responsible for lending,
- Assist consumer loan customers with loan application process.
- Assist loan administration with obtaining required updated documentation including collateral insurance and financial information. Complete loan set up sheet for loan documentation staff.
- Perform thorough analysis of proposed loan feasibility by analyzing customer's financial records, cash flow, collateral valuation and credit history.
- Achieve and maintain required loan portfolio balance and yield as directed by senior management.
- Assign risk rating per regulatory guidelines.
- Review and analyze maturing loans for renewal eligibility in compliance with regulatory requirements and bank loan policy. Complete loan set up sheet and communicate with borrower regarding documentation issues and new loan terms.
- Prepare detailed and organized loan proposals for loan committee as required by loan policy Communicate with customer for additional information as necessary and when loan decisions are final.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Two years of extensive experience in a banking environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in banking compliance
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers
- Ability to operate a computer proficiently
- Basic math skills (ability to add and subtract)
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Experience in a supervisor or management role is a plus
- Prior experience assisting with training new employees
