Summary:
The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in an outpatient clinic setting. Works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor.

This position qualifies for a $5,000 commitment incentive paid out over 2 years.

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

Answering Phone Calls: Assist patients with prescription refills and address their questions over the phone.

Managing Procedure Scheduling: Not only schedule appointments but also ensure that all appointments run smoothly and on time within the office.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Measuring and Recording Vital Signs: You'll track heart rate and blood pressure, paying close attention to subtle changes that could indicate significant problems

Performing Electrocardiograms (ECGs): Conduct ECGs to assess heart rhythm from different angles. Accurate EKG measurements require specialized training.

Rooming Patients: As a CMA, you'll be responsible for preparing examination rooms for patients. This includes ensuring cleanliness, sanitization, and restocking necessary items between patients. Efficient rooming helps maintain a smooth workflow within the clinic.

Medication Reconciliation: Accurate medication reconciliation is crucial in cardiology. You'll review patients' medication lists, compare them with their current prescriptions, and update any changes. This process helps prevent medication errors and ensures patient safety.

Placing Monitors: Cardiology patients often require continuous monitoring. As a CMA, you'll assist in placing and maintaining cardiac monitors (such as Holter monitors or event recorders) on patients. Proper placement and troubleshooting are essential for accurate data collection.

Education Requirements:
* None required as long as other position qualifications are met.
* Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA).
* Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Possess at least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
* Demonstrate possession of the competencies outlined in the Medical Assistant, Certified Advancement Worksheet through their application and interview.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Ability to perform the essential functions of the position as outlined above.
* Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to engage positively with patients and families and to work as a team with staff and providers.
* Ability to use a computer to document required information into the electronic medical record.
