We are looking to fill this position with an Interpreter/Scheduling Coordinator (preferred) or a Scheduling Coordinator. Please apply if you meet either set of qualifications.

Purpose

To provide administrative support in scheduling interpreters and live captioning requests for students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support in scheduling sign language interpreter and live captioning service requests for students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors daily. Review schedules of availability, contact providers, and complete any follow-up correspondence regarding logistical matters.

  • Assists the Director of Campus Communication and Access with various DHH-related tasks as assigned: responding to and coordinating requests, streamlining processes, developing material for tracking requests, and reviewing material created by the Director.

  • Function as a member of the D&A staff team and actively participate in activities within the D&A office, such as staff meetings and special projects.

  • Complete other administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Additional responsibilities for Interpreter/Scheduling Coordinator: Perform comprehensive interpreting (voice-to-sign or sign-to-voice) for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing individuals in various settings across campus for up to 20 hours a week. This is including but not limited to: academic, employment, performance, healthcare, University events, and/or platform interpreting.

Required Qualifications

Interpreter/Scheduling Coordinator:

  • Minimum of BEI Advanced, NIC Advanced and/or RID NIC certification.

  • At least 5 years of academic interpreting experience in higher education settings.

  • Excellent PC skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, ASL, and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and apply independent judgment and decision-making skills as business needs shift day-to-day.

  • Highly developed sense of discretion in dealing with confidential information.

  • Ability to work in a busy and fast-paced environment while maintaining student and client confidentiality.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • History of regular and punctual attendance at the workplace.

Scheduling Coordinator:

  • High School Diploma.

  • At least one year of experience with calendar management and scheduling in a high volume, rapid paced office setting.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent PC skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to prioritize and apply independent judgment and decision-making skills as business needs shift day-to-day.

  • Highly developed sense of discretion in dealing with confidential information.

  • Ability to work in a busy and fast-paced environment while maintaining student and client confidentiality.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • History of regular and punctual attendance at the workplace.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Interpreter/Scheduling Coordinator:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • BEI V, NAD V, BEI Advanced and/or NIC Master certification.

  • Experience working at the University of Texas.

  • Experience with scheduling interpreters.

Scheduling Coordinator:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Knowledge of American Sign Language, interpreting, and/or Deaf culture.

  • Experience working in higher education.

Salary Range
  • Interpreter/Scheduling Coordinator
    $61,000+ depending on qualifications

  • Scheduling Coordinator
    $48,000+ depending on qualifications
