Our mission is to promote interdisciplinary research in neuroinflammation, which is recognized as a common factor in the development of diseases ranging from hypertension and obesity to Alzheimer's disease and depression. Faculty from diverse backgrounds collaborate to improve scientific understanding of the mechanisms of neuroinflammation-findings that will have important clinical implications in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.

About the Team

The Krause-de Kloet Laboratory of Integrative Systems Neuroscience seeks a full-time Laboratory Supervisor to coordinate, conduct and assist with several aspects of scientific research. The laboratory is housed in the Center for Neuroinflammation and Cardiometabolic Disease and the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State University and the research is focused on uncovering the central and peripheral mechanisms that underlie cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Primary responsibilities include maintenance of laboratory regulatory compliance, as well as the preparation and submission of SOPs, research reports, and animal care and use protocols. The position will also involve establishing and maintaining laboratory supply inventories, mouse colony management, and direct supervision of laboratory assistants. The employee is expected to work independently. An immediate supervisor will be available for counsel, instructions and directions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities



  • Responsible for compliance of overall laboratory safety, as per the EHS, DEA, IACUC policies and regulations.
  • Assistance in the preparation and supervision of SOPs and IACUC protocols for appropriate approvals.
  • Establish supply inventory levels and manage laboratory supplies. Develops and maintains inventory database tools. Responsible for ordering of laboratory supplies and reagents.
  • Assist with management of the mouse breeding colony, ordering of mice and maintenance of the laboratory animal inventory.
  • Supervise Laboratory Assistants, Coordinate lab meetings.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and service contracts.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Master's degree in Neuroscience or a related field and four years of laboratory research experience, or a combination of education and related experience.


Preferred Hiring Qualifications:



  • Successful candidate will have master's degree and four years of related experience; closely related in Neuroscience or other related area, or a combination of work experience, including training and education. Knowledge/experience in relevant laboratory operations (e.g., ordering laboratory supplies). Knowledge/experience in the techniques and/or concepts related to the laboratory's research area and job duties described (e.g., working with laboratory mice).
