The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Boston Medical Center (BMC), Boston MA is recruiting a Scientific Director for Molecular Hematology, reporting to the Medical Director of Hematology & Hematopathology. The successful applicant will also receive an academic appointment at the Boston University (BU) Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, at a rank commensurate with experience. The qualified applicant should possess an MD, DO, MBBS or PhD and will be board eligible in Hematology and/or Molecular Diagnostics and will have experience in molecular genetics, Next Generation Sequencing and hemoglobin diagnostics. The position will have specific scientific oversight of Molecular Hematology and the Hemoglobin Diagnostic Reference Laboratories. We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Scientific Director with expertise in molecular biology, enzymology, hematology and NGS assay development to lead the clinical testing effort on our team. Our clinical laboratories are College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited. The ideal candidate will have a track record of success in developing and validating assays to facilitate therapeutics in addition to a background or familiarity with Hemoglobin Diagnostics. The position will work closely with diverse and cross-functional teams to support patient care. Organizational and communication skills are highly valued. Located in the historic South End neighborhood, BMC is a 514-bed teaching hospital for the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
