JOB TITLE / DEPARTMENT: Certified Ski Instructor Winter 2024-2025

POSITION TYPE: Seasonal (full-time and part-time)

PAY RATE: $20-$40/ Hour

SUPERVISORY: No SUPERVISED BY: Ski and Rider Managers and Supervisors

POSITION SUMMARY: Ski and Ride School coaches are responsible for the successful implementation of a quality lesson as outlined in the Ski and Ride school handbook and training manuals. Success is measured by guest satisfaction, employee experience, and the acquisition of skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS:
  • Teaches lessons utilizing recognized methodology accepted by the PSIA/AASI:
  • Certified Ski Instructors can expect to teach group and private lessons to a range of age groups from 3-years old to adults. As an experienced instructor, you will be expected to provide a quality lesson, with an emphasis on safety, fun, and learning while upholding the highest levels of guest service. *Please note, the majority of our Ski School guests are younger children.
  • Season long certification and elective training programs are available to all Ski and Ride School staff throughout the season.
  • Part-time instructors are expected to work 2-4 days a week and full-time instructors are expected to work 5-6 days a week.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • PSIA/AASI certification required
  • Excellent and professional verbal communication skills are necessary
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to develop in the realms of people, teaching and technical skills
  • Growth mindset with the desire to collaborate, equip, communicate and encourage.
  • 1 season experience employed as a ski/snowboard instructor required

Wage ranges for certifications:
  • Level 1 - $20 to $34
  • Level 2 - $21 to $38
  • Level 3 - $22 to $42

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and ski/snowboard. Employee must be capable of skiing or snowboarding in all types of terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, up to 90% or more of a normal work shift. Must be capable of frequently or constantly balancing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, handling and twisting. May require out of the ordinary skiing or snowboarding movements in order to assist children on the mountain. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 75bs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may encounter extreme winter cold and blizzard conditions.

Proper ski and/or snowboard equipment

SAFETY/PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Helmets are required
