Position Title: Full Time Snowsports Instructor

Business Unit: Ski and Ride School

Position Reports to: Leads, Supervisors, Managers, Assistant Director, Director

Positions Reporting to this Role: none

Location: Crystal Mountain , Washington

Wage Range: 20.00 - 32.40 DOE

JOB SUMMARY

Instructors in the Crystal Mountain Ski & Ride School serve as ambassadors to the sport and the greater mountain community. Ski & Snowboard instructors will teach children and adults of every ability level the fundamentals of skiing and riding while creating a safe and engaging lesson environment. These individuals must be highly motivated, guest-service oriented, and passionate about skiing and riding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Instruct various levels of skiers & snowboarders while prioritizing guest safety.
  • Assist in forming groups by assessing student ability level and determining appropriate group assignment.
  • Instruct guests of all ages in group, private, or program lesson formats.
  • Act as an information and guest service resource to customers and other departments as required.
  • Attending training sessions and participating in training activities to contribute to ongoing professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include set up and take down of lesson meeting areas, assistance in the rental shop or youth facility, and assistance with the operation of the conveyor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have strong customer service skills to be able to effectively communicate with people of all ages.
  • Able to take direction and work well in a team environment.
  • Intermediate skiing or riding ability with a strong desire to learn and be trained.
  • Any previous teaching, coaching or mentoring experience is a strong plus.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays while in operation.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to communicate with computers, phones, and/or mobile devices.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time on skis standing, sliding, bending, and/or reaching.
  • Able to spend long periods outside in varying weather conditions without breaks. (Minimum 2 hours)
