Position Summary |
The Head Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering. The employee shall be expected to work independently with some direction of the Director of Engineering. Work assignments are varied and the individual is expected to have a wide range of electrical project experience. Work shall be performed in accordance with general policies and procedures, but the employee is expected to make technical decisions and exercise considerable initiative and creativity within the scope of policy directives.
Responsibilities include performing facility design, design development, evaluating proposals, field verification and construction administration for alteration, renovation and repair of all electrical services and associated work in existing and new university buildings. This individual is also responsible for supervising the Electrical Engineer and student workers or interns engaged in the design of such projects. The employee will be expected to stamp and seal electrical designs performed by in-house staff. The Head Electrical Engineer will be expected to oversee contracted design professionals. Overseeing contracted design professionals includes: reviewing proposals, programming scope of work, reviewing submitted designs, and reviewing and signing pay applications. Other activities include overseeing and documenting changes to the campus-wide medium voltage distribution, updating and revising campus design standards, and providing engineering support to other organizations within
UGA. |

- Electrical Facilities design.
- Proficient with the following software: Revit, Autocad, SKM, Visual (lighting design software), ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office.
