Overview

The Director, Public Health and Emergency Preparedness directs, initiate, and implements projects, programs, and activities in the area of immunization, infectious disease, and public health preparedness issues as part of ACOG's commitment to increase and enhance immunization practices among ob-gyns and their patients and respond to emerging infections and public health threats. Oversee activities related to immunization and infectious disease, including emergency preparedness and response efforts. Maintain expertise in federal and non-federal grant and cooperative agreement writing, submission, execution, and management.

Responsibilities

* Provide strategic oversight and guidance regarding priority topics, resources, guidance, and funding opportunities.
* Provide guidance and leadership to other Practice departments and programs in submitting grant and cooperative agreement proposals, as appropriate.
* Lead the development and submission of federal grant proposals and progress reports, oversee grant application and report submissions, technical review responses, and final reports for all grants as necessary.

* Ensuring compliance with ACOG and federal policies related to grants and cooperative agreements and managing the budgets of all relevant funded projects and programs. Lead ACOG's emergency preparedness and response efforts for emerging issues including, but not limited to new infectious diseases, epidemics, natural disasters, and pandemics. Prepare and coordinate the development of ACOG guidance and resources.
* Organize and provide oversight of focused expert work groups as needed.
* Participate on conference calls with partners and key government stakeholders including high-ranking officials and leaders.
* Secure funding for response efforts.
* Collaborating with internal ACOG partners on response efforts to ensure the coordination of resource and guidance development and distribution to members and respond to members inquires.
* Collaborate with external partner organizations to ensure wide distribution of ACOG guidance and resources and ensure a coordinated response strategy among key stakeholders.
* Direct and implement activities of ACOG's Immunization, Infectious Disease, and Public Health Preparedness Expert Work Group including the coordination of document and resources development, letters, e-mail blasts, tool kits, patient & provider information, and other special
projects. Serve as the point of contact for work group members, ACOG Publications, Communications, Patient Education, Marketing, and the Research department through this process.

* Maintain knowledge of current and developing vaccines that impact adults, pregnant people, and obstetrician-gynecologists.
* Coordinate ACOG guidance and resource development for existing, new, and upcoming vaccines in consult with the Immunization, Infectious Disease, and Public Health Preparedness Expert Work Group and relevant Practice Committee(s) when appropriate.
* Manage budgets for the immunization department and related grants and cooperative agreements. Review monthly grant expense & labor distribution reports and coordinate with ACOG finance staff to address and correct any identified issues. Ensure that grant and cooperative agreement funds are used appropriately and within budget. Coordinate with Finance department to prepare and submit grant invoices and final financial reports to funders.
* Cultivate relationships with external and internal partners and subject matter experts to optimize collaboration and reach of critical infectious disease prevention programs. This includes liaising to other immunization partners, including external partner and government organizations.
* Serve as ACOG's expert staff on immunization and infectious disease topics, reviewing documents and resources for other departments that contain information and recommendations regarding immunizations to ensure alignment with ACOG recommendations and best practices.
* Review and maintain all ACOG immunization documents and resources in collaboration with the relevant ACOG committees as appropriate. Anticipate necessary updates to immunization resources and documents based on updates from CDC and other immunization governing bodies.
* Initiate and direct the development of new immunization guidance and resources as needed based on emerging issues, guidance, and priority from ACOG and other immunization leaders.
* Guide the development and implementation of dissemination and promotion plans for ACOG Immunization materials including e mail blasts, presentations on webinars, website updates, and promotion through ACOG's various channels in coordination with Senior Director as appropriate.
* Provide leadership, direction, and management of staff, including fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment through supervising staff, providing feedback, coaching, support, mentoring, performance management, and training and development opportunities as appropriate. Oversee, appoint, and manage ACOG liaisons to other organizations related to immunization issues (eg. ACIP, NVAC)
* Be available for immediate response to urgent inquires. Manage responses to inquiries from members and partners on Immunization or emergency response-related issues as appropriate and timely.
* Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field required. Master's degree preferred.
* Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience public health, health education, or public health nursing experience preferred.
* Must have a minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
* Must have budget management experience.
* Proficiency in grant writing and funding proposals.
* Medical association experience preferred.
* Knowledge of and experience working in women's health/maternal health preferred.
* Experience working with state health departments and /or medical associations preferred.
* Strong written and communication skills; experience in editing.
* Knowledge of and experience with computer applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and website applications.
* Ability to organize, prioritize and make independent judgments.
* Ability to travel.

Compensation

The base salary for this position is $105,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, ACOG offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes the perks outlined below.
