Job Description

To keep pace with customer demands while maintaining product quality, we are increasing our focus on new technology integration and machine automation. The Automation Manufacturing Engineer will join our team of Manufacturing Engineers in developing and improving our extrusion, cabling, armoring and wire drawing processes with an emphasis on the hardware and software integration necessary for automation, real-time data analysis and data collection.

Essential Job Functions


  • Actively participate in safety programs and implement solutions initiated by these activities to resolve or prevent safety issues.
  • Creating and improving manufacturing processes to meet product needs and supporting manufacturing in nonconformance root cause and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the Integration of different levels of SCADA & ignition systems to existing processes to monitor and record key process parameters, simplify operator machine control as well as aid in analyzing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Recommend and provide cost estimates for process changes when current capabilities are lacking.
  • Estimate tooling and process costs and manage project budgets
  • Utilize product nonconformance and scrap data to drive process improvements through enhanced procedures, error-proofing and the integration of new technology.
  • Create and update work instructions and visual standards, working closely with production supervisors/operators to solicit support and team engagement.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Visual Management initiatives.


Requirements

  • Please note: This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering Degree with 4+ years of experience in manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Experience with process automation and data collection through various I/O tools preferred.
  • PLC knowledge/experience is also desired.
  • Competency with computer aided design software (CAD)
  • Must be able to work in a hands-on environment, interacting closely with manufacturing operators and supervision as well as the maintenance crews.
  • Sound project management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive ability to anticipate questions and ensure high quality products
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple changing priorities.
