What you'll do

Viasat is a rapidly growing technology company that designs, deploys and operates cutting edge SATCOM products and services that span the globe! At Viasat you'll work with highly-motivated engineers in an exciting, dynamic, yet informal environment. You will be able to use your engineering experience to support the next generation of advanced communications products and systems.

In this role you will learn to design, develop and test digital electronics including FPGA's for commercial, military, airborne, and space products. You will work on a collaborative team of RF, power converter, mechanical, embedded SW, manufacturing and test engineers to ensure successful product development and transfer to production.


The day-to-day

You are a highly motivated and capable Digital Signal Processing FPGA Engineer, with a wide-range of experience, who is looking for an opportunity to develop innovative new products with experts in the industry. In this role you will be responsible for the specification, design, test and documentation of digital hardware and FPGA design. You will be working on moderate scoped yet challenging tasks and will be mentored by leadership.


What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technologies or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years of digital module and FPGA design experience
  • Experienced in Verilog/VHDL
  • Implementing Digital Signal Processing in FPGAs
  • Experienced in the use of lab equipment including logic analyzers, DMM, spectrum analyzers
  • US government position. US citizenship required

What will help you on the job

  • Advanced Space hardware design
  • Hi-Rel FPGA experience using Xilinx and Microsemi Polarfire/RTAX/RTSX/Prosaic
  • Serial interface design
  • Experience using Xilinx/Altera design tools including Vivado, EDK, Synplicity, Modelsim, DxDesigner
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • MSEE degree
  • Must be able to obtain a United States Secret Clearance

Salary range

$132,200.00 - $194,900.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $164,200.00- $230,000.00/ annually
