Job Description

The Specialist provides paralegal support for the Discovery and Information Governance Solutions team within Law and Regulation. This role will oversee the implementation of legal holds, support the management of third-party subpoenas and other discovery responses, and perform paralegal tasks under the guidance and direction of attorneys or legal analysts. The Specialist is responsible for conducting, summarizing, and analyzing basic research and relevant issues. The individual also manages intake of new matters, as well as the data in case management and eDiscovery systems, and gathers matter related documents for the attorney to analyze. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct, summarize, and analyze basic research, including gathering facts, researching and analyzing applicable laws, regulations, and case laws, etc., as necessary.
  • Maintain eDiscovery case management records and workflow repositories.
  • Assist with the identification and summarization of relevant issues while continually monitoring them, updating the attorneys, and escalating as appropriate.
  • Review legal hold and discovery response process flows to ensure efficient and appropriate application of Law and Regulation legal hold compliance tools, processes, policies, and quality control for discovery management.
  • Gather matter-related documents for the attorney to analyze, and collaborate with or instruct Pune team members to do so
  • Manage intake of new matters, enter new matter data and upload new documents.
  • Review and explain various aspects of forms and processes to in-house clients and outside counsel.
  • Consult with outside counsel, as needed.
  • Oversee project management, coordination, and collaboration with Law & Regulation, business clients, and board members, as needed.
  • Manage, execute, file, track, and retain data documents in matter management system, SharePoint, and other systems as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This job does not have supervisory duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
  • 0-2 years experience (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • American Bar Association (ABA) Paralegal Certificate (Required)
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
  • Analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems and demonstrate initiative
  • Strong MS Office Suite experience, with strong acumen in excel
  • Ability to work in diverse, multi-office, and long distance environments
  • Ability to effectively recognize, analyze, and communicate legal issues
  • Basic budget management skills and ability to reconcile expense reports
  • Basic project management skills and experience interacting with law firms and vendors
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Basic researching, proofreading, and formatting skills
  • Ability to collaborate and interact with all levels of personnel and build strong relationships with business colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal skills, advanced written and oral communication, and effective customer service skills
  • Basic experience with Relativity, or other similar systems
  • Experience with e-discovery and legal holds
  • Compliance experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to thrive within a fast paced environment

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $24.71 - 41.47 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
