Experience, skills and competencies that lend themselves to this role: We know that experience comes in all forms and we're not necessarily looking for individuals who can hit the ground running ('check all the boxes') but may bring a unique blend of competence and capabilities that can grow into a role and/or bring news skills to the team. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with reviewing and drafting various business contracts, terms & conditions, notices, letters including but not limited to the following agreements: vendor, supplier, retailer, marketing, promotional, event, hotel sweepstakes, and cease and desist
- Draft routine business letters such as termination letters or letters to the business and route for approvals
- Review and report on marketing materials, artwork claims (digital, social media, television, packaging and print) for compliance with laws and regulations (e.g. FTC, FDA, NAD, Cosmetics Regulations, MOCRA).
- Assist with intellectual property matters, including but not limited to specimen collection
- Provide support on litigation matters
- Stay abreast of any applicable changes in regulations, laws, as well as legal challenges occurring in similarly situated industries and update legal department with relevant developments
- Research laws and regulations
- Draft clear and concise legal memos
- Track and compile certain legal data
- Perform administrative duties including organizing the department budget, managing and maintaining digital and/or physical files, submitting and processing invoices, and filing paperwork.
- Support the legal department and coordinate tasks as needed, including but not limited to meetings, calendars, expenses, etc.
- Assist with contract lifecycle management database and contract routing
- Support with external and internal audit efforts
- Assist with due diligence and document collection
- Draft and assist with e-commerce and other take-down notices
- Support with compliance matters and trainings
- Provide aid other company initiatives including but not limited to vendor management and event preparation
REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctorate of Jurisprudence (JD), and 2-3 years of post-graduate experience
- Marketing or advertising law experience required
- Consumer products or in-house counsel experience strongly preferred
- Transactional and intellectual property background strongly preferred.
- Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Must be flexible and open to assisting with administrative and back-office tasks
- Must have experience drafting, reviewing or redlining a high-volume of contracts.
- Must have strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to take initiative and set priorities.
- Must be able to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Must be a local candidate or able to start quickly
- Must be able to be on-site no less than 3 days a week, and available and flexible to be onsite as needed.
