Position Summary:



  • The Wellness Coach II is responsible for providing orientation to new members, assisting members with their workouts and providing personal training services.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, be out-going, and enjoy building relationships with a variety of members working to meet their wellness and wellness goals.
  • Provide orientation to new members.
  • Assist members during workouts with proper use of equipment, proper form and safety guidelines.
  • Perform wellness assessments.
  • Provide personal training to those members who purchase additional services.
  • May teach a variety of classes based on experience and specialties.
  • Verify membership through POS system.
  • Provide information and answer questions about available programs.
  • Ensure that the wellness area is always presentable. Assist with cleaning and maintenance.
  • Report all equipment, wellness and gym area problems to the Wellness Manager.
  • Enforcing all rules that pertain to the wellness and exercise areas on a constant basis.
  • Adhere to RJKCCC operations as well as all policy procedures as adopted by Administration.
  • Provide supervision when Wellness Manager is not on site.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.


General Qualifications and Proficiencies:



  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have current personal training certification by a nationally recognized organization or equivalent education or experience. Some examples are WITS, NSCA, ACE and AFAA.
  • Must be able to design high-quality, up-to-date, scientifically sound, safe and effective wellness programs for a variety of client goals and needs.
  • Prior personal training experience is required.
  • Must uphold the scope and practice of wellness professionals.
  • Must comply with all applicable business, employment and copyright laws.
  • Must uphold and enhance public appreciation and trust for the wellness industry.
  • A degree in wellness, exercise science, athletic training, physical therapy, exercise physiology or other related areas is preferred.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all client information.
  • Maintain a drug and alcohol free work environment.
  • Computer experience helpful.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clientele and staff.
  • Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health.
  • Demonstrate positive team leadership capabilities and supervision skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members and customers.
  • Have the ability to work with children, parents, staff and a variety of age groups in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with customers, clients, members and staff.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment. Be a team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
  • Ability to empathize and communicate with low-income and vulnerable people.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
