Your Role With Us: Pharmacy Interns at Salem Health are provided top-level training to prepare for a career in Pharmacology. Interns earn to provide the best patient experience through assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team members in accordance with state and federal regulations. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, interns review patient records and orders regarding drug therapy, perform clinical interventions as defined by protocol, and consult with staff members on appropriate medication use.Core Functions:Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the intern reviews patient records and orders regarding drug therapy, performs clinical interventions as defined by protocol, and consults with staff members on appropriate medication use. Maintain proficiency in accuracy of medication filling, admixing, compounding and computer entries pertaining to patient profiles and patient history in both a teamwork setting and when working independently. Consults with physicians and nursing staff members concerning the use, availability, dosage form, side effects and possible incompatibilities of new as well as currently used drugs.For medications defined as part of clinical services (DUE, pharmacokinetics), concurrent interventions and follow-up will be made in order to assure the appropriateness, safety, and efficacy of the medicationDocuments all clinical interventions appropriately.
