Join VHB's Raleigh NC Office as an Assistant Project Manager to help grow their expanding and innovative Land Development and Planning and Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our clients include mixed-use, biotech, residential, multifamily, affordable housing, industrial, and hospitality developers.

Responsibilities

    Oversee all internal project aspects, including data review, information analysis, and ensuring compliance with standards and design concepts.
  • Lead the development of preliminary layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards and codes.
  • Utilize, instruct, and delegate application usage for generating project-specific drawings, reports, or other technical deliverables
  • Manage quality control procedures and recommend QC process enhancements
  • Train and mentor junior staff on technical aspects and policies
  • Develop engineering plans and specifications in a team environment for a multitude of projects
  • Assist Project Managers with managing and delegating tasks, forecasting and proactively addressing workload, financial performance, and staffing needs, while collaborating with clients and teammates across the organization
  • Oversee and engage in the development of existing client relationships, including conducting periodic meetings, developing proposals and budgets, and gathering feedback with teammates
  • Assist with Business Development and Visibility efforts representing VHB in the community.

Skills and Attributes

  • Willingness to learn implementation of integrated services projects in a team with multidisciplinary skills.
  • Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations
  • Innovative design skills to develop solutions to complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and growth potential

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related degree
  • 5+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects preferred
  • PE licensure in NC or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Proficient in the following: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office.
  • Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management
  • Experience in developing and compiling/producing site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reports
  • Experience with GIS Systems is a plus - GIS is one of the tools we use to create better projects.
