Peer Leads (Tutors) are held to high standards, specialists in their subjects, and role models who focus on student success. Peer Leads (Tutors) are expected to work with students on facts/formulas, concept development, comprehension, explanation, research, projects and application. They facilitate sessions, work with and guide students through the learning process. Peer Leads (Tutors) will provide support for homework practice as well as for on going literacy work. They may offer study skills support. They will not correct any written assignments or reading errors, but develop a framework within which each student can discover and apply appropriate language, reading, and/or learning skills. Please refer to the PLUS Center's recruitment flyer for subjects/courses that have open positions. Cover letters should specify your course(s) of interest and experiences should support it. For All applicants, Letters of Recommendation (LORs) are required for subject area/courses that you plan to support. Prospective employees will not be hired without required LORs. For All non-student tutors, a copy of a final transcript will be required; it must show conferred degree and date. The anticipated start date is for the upcoming year with the possibility of renewal. Qualifications Basic qualifications
Good written and verbal communication skills and competence in specific subject area(s) are required. A high grade in the subject area/courses noted in the recruitment is required. For All Tutors, a high grade in one of the following is required: WRI 10, WRI 100, 110, 116, 117 or WRI 199. -Undergraduate in good academic standing Application Requirements Document requirements
