Senior Programmer Analyst

Old Republic Risk Management (ORRM) is currently seeking a Senior Programmer Analystto join its Information Services Team at its company headquarters inBrookfield, WI. Under the guidance of the Application Development Manager, this position is responsible for analyzing, documenting, and maintaining the existing portfolio of Old Republic Risk Management (ORRM) programs within a COBOL environment. This position is also responsible for developing COBOL based programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain current ORRM programs written in COBOL and Integrated Language Environment (ILE)
  COBOL, including, but not limited to, bug fixes, feature enhancements and performance tuning,
  troubleshoot and debug issues; maintain or introduce embedded Structured Query Language (SQL) within programs. Some applications are financially significant and are governed by Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
• Perform iSeries journaling and commitment control for data base recovery within the iSeries
  integrated filing system.
• Assist with business and technical specifications. This includes occasional contact with Third
  Party Administrators (TPAs) to review technical specifications and file layouts and to resolve data
  integrity issues.
• Develop programs or applications in COBOL and ILE COBOL as requested. Maintain programs
  written in CL, a programming language specific to the IBM server.
  
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems and a minimum of five years of development experience on an iSeries platform, or anequivalent combination of education and experience.

Working as a Senior Programmer Analyst requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary.Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: This position requires one to sit for extended periods of time and stand and/or walk occasionally. The position requires one to occasionally push, pull, carry, and/or lift up to 40 pounds. No personal protective equipment is required. Ergonomic equipment is available to employees.
