Director of the Center for Cardiac Transcatheter Therapeutics Cardiovascular Service Line Full Time 79625BR Job Summary In collaboration with the Medical and Surgical Directors and the Executive Director of Heart and Vascular, related care delivery areas and other appropriate administrative directors, the Director of the Center for Cardiac Transcatheter Therapeutics will oversee the interventional cardiology service line, spanning robust programs in coronary revascularization, structural heart and valvular heart disease. The Director will provide leadership, planning and development of Center related cardiac programs consistent with the mission and vision of the organization; provide clinical expertise and guidance in accordance with federal, local and internal standards, policies and regulations, become involved in building a comprehensive operational strategy for growth and innovation within the Center, and foster an environment and culture of high quality care and collaboration amongst internal team members as well as building relationships with referring providers to grow procedural volumes. The Director will also ensure financial health of the Center and recommend and implement an integrated performance and quality improvement program that will improve effectiveness, enhance efficiency, increase cost effectiveness to ensure high customer satisfaction and optimal patient outcomes. The Director of the Center for Cardiac Transcatheter Therapeutics is a highly visible position within UCSF Health. Reporting to the Executive Director of Heart and Vascular Services, this position assists with the development and implementation of new programs, policies, and patient care service standards, and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies. The Director will collaborate closely with ambulatory care, cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic anesthesia, cardiac intensive care and its related managers, service lines and support staff. The Director will be accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of staffing, fiscal, and material resources for the following areas: Heart Valve Program Complex coronary revascularization Adult congenital heart disease interventions Structural heart disease interventions Interventional heart failure Left atrial appendage occlusion All emerging catheter based cardiovascular transcatheter therapies The Director will be responsible for hiring, onboarding and managing a multidisciplinary team. Utilizing Lean methodology, the director will be responsible for assessing workflows to optimize productivity and satisfaction. The Director works with staff on a clearly defined, clearly communicated vision, and engages individuals and groups to achieve that vision. The Director identifies and develops organizational talent and embraces continuous learning of self and others. Additionally, the Director will respond to all patient satisfaction concerns and evaluate means for programmatic improvement. This includes responsibility for the program development, management, and overall day-to-day business operations. The Director collaborates with Medical Director, Surgical Director, and Executive Director for Heart and Vascular Services to advance quality strategies, ensure a positive professional work environment, facilitate timeliness of services, and enhance patient and staff satisfaction. The Director oversees all aspects of the provision of clinical services including the maintenance of safety and technical/clinical performance, human resources, quality, standards of care, practice guidelines, service delivery and patient and customer satisfaction. This position assists with the development and implementation of new programs, policies, and patient care service standards. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $138,400 - $335,800 (Annual Rate). The HVC administrative structure oversees key elements of inpatient, ambulatory, diagnostic, and procedural services, noninvasive cardiac and vascular testing, and all outpatient clinics where HVC providers see patients. The HVC structure allows close collaboration on strategy and program development across the medical and surgical practices. Programs of distinction include TAVR and structural interventions, advanced heart failure, including mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant, adult congenital heart disease, center for limb preservation, minimally invasive cardiac surgery/valve surgery, complex aortic disease, pulmonary hypertension among others. The multi-specialty HVC clinic on Parnassus campus provides a patient-centered, collaborative care and houses many of the specialized programs. UCSF's HVC offers the latest in diagnostic technology for the San Francisco Bay Area region, including fully accredited echocardiography and vascular laboratories. Cardiology procedures include EKG, Stress Testing, Holter monitors, and long-term ECG monitoring. The UCSF vascular laboratory is an accredited IAC unit that provides the full scope of vascular ultrasound exams across several locations. HVC houses a cardiovascular quality measurement and improvement program which is coordinated by the HVC Quality and Value Council. Quality initiatives across the diverse HVC clinical settings are conducted within a common structure aligned with UCSF Health's True North Pillars. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing Bachelor's degree in Nursing Registered Nurse in the State of California Board Certification Minimum five years of related experience in a lead, supervisory, or management role In-depth clinical practice and applied background in structural heart disease, valvular heart disease, coronary revascularization, and interventional cardiology more broadly, spanning the inpatient and outpatient settings and care delivery areas Experience with program development, evaluation and optimization Strong leadership, fiscal, and operational management skills. Ability to manage conflict and lead others to achieve objectives. Ability to collaborate with senior management on setting objectives Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate complex issues and resolve problems Advanced interpersonal skills to develop and maintain professional relationships with clinical and professional staff at all levels, resolve conflict and foster collaboration and coordinate cardiovascular services across functions Proven ability to set goals and implement initiatives meeting deadlines Demonstrated ability to improve the efficiency and delivery of cardiac catheterization laboratory and ambulatory interventional cardiology practice, processes, and procedures while maintaining patient care standards and regulatory compliance Ability to actively listen. Advanced communication skills to influence and motivate others Ability to work collaboratively soliciting and incorporating the ideas of others Preferred Qualifications Nurse Practitioner License in the State of California Strong knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes.
