Job Summary Responsible for the development, supervision, administration and leadership of one or more assigned sports programs. Develops, mentors, and educates student athletes to improve sport skill and knowledge. Provides leadership in the selection and supervision of Assistant Coaches, and in the recruitment of student athletes, and athletic program staff. Serves in a highly visible role representing Glendale Community College and MCCCD, frequently engaging with community members and other stakeholders. Essential Functions 45% - For the Men's and Women's Soccer Team ; Plans, manages and implements coaching strategy and practice training sessions for student athletes in accordance with established regulations; Promotes student athlete health, fitness, and safety through education and coaching efforts 15% - Organizes, provides for and oversees the recruitment of prospective student athletes including the evaluation of student athletes in areas of academics, athletic ability and character 10% - Plans and administers assigned budget; monitors program expenditures and budget compliance; Plans and manages program travel and scheduling 10% - Provides academic advisement and performs other duties assigned by the Athletics Director 10 % - Plans and implements athletic promotional programs and related fundraising efforts 10% - Serves as a program liaison with campus representatives, community service providers, alumni development representatives and others in the promotion of academics and campus/community support partnerships Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education, sports management, sports coaching, kinesiology, recreation therapy, athletic training, sport psychology, or another field related to athletics or sports, management, communications, health, coaching, or a similar discipline, and four (4) years of experience as an athletic coach, preferably at the college level, which includes recruiting experience and two (2) years of senior level or lead experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
