Assistant Professor of Practice - Interior Design 38157BR Department of Design DOD Position Description The Department of Design, in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor of Practice to begin September 2025 to join a dynamic Interior Design program. The successful applicant will contribute to the university's mission through teaching, service, and research, by serving as a faculty member in the Interior Design program. The applicant will have opportunities to teach undergraduate courses in Interior Design. About the Department/School/Area The Department of Design, housed in the College of Human Sciences, serves approximately 330 undergraduate students (Interior Design and Apparel Design and Manufacturing Programs) and 30 graduate students (Interior and Environmental Design Programs). The Interior Design program is CIDA accredited and provides students with a foundation of education and success for creative and employable interior design fields. The faculty in the department collaborate with various departments and colleges across campus, including the College of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Human Development and Family Studies, etc. We are recruiting faculty who will provide cutting-edge opportunities for bright students while pursuing research, scholarship, and creative activities. New faculty are strongly supported. Major/Essential Functions At Texas Tech University, the Professor of Practice title is used to recruit individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or other professional practice. Primary responsibilities normally will be to teach in an area of expertise, mentor students in professional and career preparation, and liaise with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or program.
