Position description

The UCLA Department of Art is creating a pool of candidates to teach courses in all areas (Ceramics, Interdisciplinary Studio, New Genres, Painting & Drawing, Photography, and Sculpture) of the department for the 2024-25 academic year. Members of the pool would be called upon to teach lower division, upper division or graduate students as needed and dependent upon funding.

CERAMICS- Applicants must be able to teach in form construction (hand-building and wheel-throwing) and surface design (glazing and other techniques) and be skilled in the use of throwing wheels, slab rollers, gas and electric kilns, and glazes and raw materials.

INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIO - Applicants must be able to teach across artistic mediums, academic disciplines, and social concerns that extend beyond the framework of individual studio art practice.

NEW GENRES - Applicants must be able to teach across artistic mediums including moving image, sound, performance, installation, hybrid, and emerging art forms.

PAINTING & DRAWING-Applicants must be able to teach the basics of painting and/or drawing including technical skill as well as advanced concepts and practice.

PHOTOGRAPHY -Applicants must be able to teach issues of contemporary photography, encompassing print, installation, and video.

SCULPTURE - Applicants must be able to teach woodworking, metal working, mold-making and casting, and some digital fabrication as well as modeling, carving, casting, welding, and other media.

Salary: Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
