Job Summary Serves as liaison between exceptional student education department and schools providing direct services for students with disabilities. Provides support services and/or technical assistance to ensure appropriate placement and special education services. Provides input in specific exceptional student categories for proper identification and needed assessments. Assists in developing training modules, program planning, implementation of curriculum, and progress monitoring to measure student progress. Master's degree preferred. Experience: Three (3) years of experience in exceptional student education. Experience in gifted exceptional education preferred. Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education certification in Exceptional Student Education. The minimum qualifications for the remaining school-based ESE positions are listed in the chart below.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Working knowledge of exceptional student education * Knowledge of federal, state and district legislation, policies specifically related to exceptional student education operations * Knowledge of current trends and best practices in exceptional student education * Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills * Strong time management skills * Strong creative problem solving skills * Ability to develop and revise district procedures for exceptional student programs * Ability to develop and implement in-service training for teachers, therapists, and other staff * Ability to manage multiple tasks * Ability to facilitate meetings effectively * Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, principals, and parents * Ability to propose strategies and activities to address student academic, behavioral, and social needs Press tab to move to the browser's controls
