The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager role is the supply chain leader at the manufacturing site, responsible for Purchasing and Inventory Management of raw materials. The functional core competencies of this role include lean material flow, inventory controls and analytics, project management, and continuous improvement. The channels through which this role will execute include the manufacturing value streams and production planning teams at the site tactically and the Global Strategic Procurement team. To increase material availability, accelerate continuous improvement and achieve productivity objectives, the Purchasing Manager will charter and oversee a portfolio of projects, leveraging direct and indirect resources. The success of this role will be aligned with and measured to achieve our Quality, Service and Cost priorities.

This position is located in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day purchasing and materials planning activities with team members located remotely and at multiple production facilities in Rochester, NY.

  • Take part in risk mitigation strategies and utilize project management skills to ensure continuous progress in improving material availability.

  • Evaluating suppliers' performance based on OTIF delivery of their products, price quality and lead time.

  • Identify and implement inventory reduction opportunities within the different value streams.

  • Interview vendors and visit suppliers to examine and learn about prices, products, and services. Proactively work with suppliers to discover mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation.

  • Analyzing financial reports, price proposals and other information used to determine ideal pricing.

  • Meeting with vendors and staff to discuss unacceptable and defective products and establish corrective action.

  • Evaluating and monitoring contracts to ensure suppliers and vendors are complying with terms and conditions.

  • Collaborate with Category Leaders to achieve supply assurance and productivity objectives.

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, finance, or related discipline or equivalent experience required.

  • 10+ years of purchasing and/or direct material management experience, preferably in the Life Sciences or Chemicals manufacturing industry.

  • 7-10 years of leadership experience in the relevant field.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Power BI Platform.

  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities with direct, applied experience in Supply Chain.

  • Demonstrated ability to link the critical business supply chain systems and processes needed to achieve availability and productivity goals.

  • Knowledge of business systems and information technology for managing complex supply chain activities.

  • Strong leader with the ability to influence and manage a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.

  • Able to empower and develop talent.

  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure with limited supervision.

  • Well-organized with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Excellent knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain, with a clarity for understanding the importance and interdependencies associated with each stage of the process - Plan, Source, Make, & Deliver.

  • High levels of personal integrity when conducting the professional affairs of the organization and dealing with sensitive and confidential data relating to risk and cost.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree.

  • SAP experience.

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office environment. Up to 75% of time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials (up to 10 lbs.) is required. Will require domestic and international travel up to 20%. Ability to travel on short notice.

Salary Transparency

Salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. Salary range for this position is $94,000 to $159,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
