Function:

Environmental, Health & Safety Job Summary:The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day support to Operations, Maintenance, and the Contractor workforce by implementing specific Health & Safety programs by providing coaching on hazard identification risk assessment, incident investigations and prevention, conducting observations, safety compliance, providing information on safety management systems, and other general safety and health tasks at the Yazoo City Complex. Must be able to maintain a strong working knowledge of a wide variety of safety regulations and issues and performs tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:
* Review and provide oversight of regulatory requirements ensuring compliance with existing regulations and Company initiatives and standards dealing with safety for the complex. Collect and assess data on safety program effectiveness.
* Instruct and consult on high-risk field permitting activities and provide information on safety related field activities (LOTO, Confines Space, Scaffolding, Excavation, Line Breaking).
* Assess (safety) risk exposure and lead development of appropriate controls.
* Participate in incident investigations using root cause analysis to identify causes, maintaining records in the incident data system. Develop reports for applicable stakeholders.
* Provide coaching, guidance and support on hazard identification, risk prevention and mitigation, safety regulations and policies to promote safe work practices and conditions.
* Conduct safety training or education programs ensuring employees have the skills, knowledge and training to effectively implement corporate and EHS policies.
* Provide support to industrial hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, personal and continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos abatement plans.
* Conduct meetings, routine safety tours, and field safety audits.
* Champion safety operational excellence including proper use of PPE necessary for each task, implementing established safety procedures and protocols for each job, identifying hazards or incidents, and communicating findings using established procedures.
* Understand and comply with established processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of management internal controls deficiencies.

Incumbent Attributes:

* Education: Associate or Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, or relevant discipline preferred, as well as CPR and First Aid is desirable.
* Years of experience: 2 or more years of related professional work experience is required to complete all essential job functions.
* Other unique job relevant attributes:
o Industry knowledge: Experience with health, safety, hygiene and environmental standards and their application in the field. Experience with safety audits and inspections.
o Risk Mitigation: Demonstrated knowledge of risk prevention strategies along with risk assessment and mitigation applications to field activities.
o Incident Investigation: Experience conducting incident investigations through use of interviewing techniques and root cause analysis.
o Training and development: Developing and delivering training to diverse audiences. Knowledgeable in how to effectively coach others within a manufacturing environment.
o Judgment and decision making: Considering the long- and short-term implications of potential actions and their impacts to choose the most appropriate course.

* Complexity: May work with increasingly complex challenges or problems. Work entails detailed planning of own activities and immediate work team. Requires using logic, judgment, option identification and critical thinking skills to assess situations.
* Decision Making Authority: Decisions are governed by established policies and procedures within normal job duties based on prior similar situations and precedents. Seeks guidance and decision-making from supervisor or lead for exceptions to standard operating procedures and policies.
* Financial Accountability: Decisions made may impact profit or loss however decisions are governed by organizational policies and not personal independent actions.
* Strategic Influence: May impact the execution or achievement of short-term strategic initiatives but is not involved in the planning process.
