Purpose of Position
The Maintenance Training Instructor analyzes, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates technical regulatory compliance and safety training for internal and external maintenance departments, including Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Leadership, Maintenance Controllers, Supply Chain Operations and Crew Operations. Participates in the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP), proficient in building human factor-based training and assisting with department writing standards and operating procedures.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- The Maintenance Training Instructor analyzes policies, procedures, changes in FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) compliance, emphasizing the separation of performance gaps from training gaps. Once the gaps are identified, the instructional goals and objectives are established. The instructor will present performance gaps and instructional goals/objectives to department leadership for further evaluation. During analysis, the instructor will identify the learners' existing knowledge and skills. The instructor will also establish the appropriate learning environment, curriculum needs and appropriate delivery.
- Designs human factor-based learning, determined during the analysis. Builds assessments, exercises, content, multimedia, lesson plans, schedules, and syllabuses. The design phase should be systematic and specific. Maintains a strong relationship between the instructor and departmental subject matter experts to ensure material is written clearly and has only one translation.
- Experience using several different authoring technologies to create learning experiences. Maintains strong project management skills including planning, detail-oriented organization, multitasking, time management, and delivering results. Experience working in a cross-functional team.
- Provides maintenance leadership and technicians comprehensive, accurate and prompt training resolutions, from ad hoc technical training to safety issues. Coordinates with other departments to ensure consistency and compliance within Company Orientation, Airworthiness Release, Initial, Recurrent, and Safety training requirements.
- Advises and trains internal team members and external vendors on effective safety practices, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

- Must have a minimum of three (3) years professional maintenance instruction.
- Create engaging and compelling content using a variety of authoring tools e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline
- Capable of writing, editing, and producing materials for technical instruction.
- Familiar with aircraft simulators and script writing.
- Excellent public speaking skills, including effectively communicating in large group settings.
- Knowledge of adult learning and instructional systems design techniques.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite for video production, photo editing and graphic design.
- Experience in technical publications, educational curriculum, and content development.
- Assists in the production and maintenance of training schedules and resources to meet training needs.
- Up to 25% travel required.
