Position Title Assistant Athletic Trainer
Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University's residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. Job Responsibilities
The athletic trainer is a ten month position responsible for rendering first aid and instilling prevention of injuries in athletic activity.

* Adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules
* Assist in medical care and rehabilitation activities of injured athletes (40%)
* Maintain positive constructive working relationships with student-athletes, athletics department coaches and staff, and all members of the University community
* At all times promote the athletics program in a positive way
* Attend team practices and contests for oversight of safety measures (40%)
* Assists with administrative duties (insurance coverage, following up with doctors) (13%)
* Works with work study student employees (2%)
* Acts as liaison of University Health Service (3%)
* Performs duties as may be assigned by Athletic Director or Head Athletic Trainer (2%)
* Work with sports/ teams as assigned.
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred from a program accredited by the National Athletic Trainers' Association ( NATA), the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs ( CAAHEP), or the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education ( CAATE). Current New York State Athletic Trainer licensure or be eligible for licensure.
Competencies / Skills
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills between students, staff, alumni and friends of the University.
Must be knowledgeable of all OSHA regulations.
Supervision of Employees
Assist in the coordination of duties and supervision of work study students and part time hourly athletic trainer support.
Work Environment
Well lighted, well ventilated pleasant office and Athletic training room. Work with students and accompany teams when traveling. Ability to endure and work in less than ideal weather conditions from high heat and humidity to freezing temperatures and precipitation to support outdoor practice and competitions.
Equipment to be Used
Must be able to be proficient in Word, Excel, Google docs and able to learn other related computer programs (Medicat and Front Rush). Modalities used: ultrasound, stim, hot packs, etc. for treatment of injuries.

Full-time, 10-month position

Must be able to work weekends, travel, drive rental vehicles and be away from home for extended periods of time. Extensive weekends and evenings required of the job.
