Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities
Responsible for the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations for the Access Services Department, ensuring a high level of customer service. Reports to the Circulation Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:
* Staffing the Library Checkout Desk and training/monitoring student workers
* Opening/Closing the Library
* Processing interlibrary loan requests
Education / Experience
* High school diploma
* Preferred - Bachelor Degree desirable or equivalent experience
* 2-3 years directly related experience desired (library or customer service)
Competencies / Skills
* Customer service ability and experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work positively and productively in a team oriented, fast paced changing environment
* Capacity to interact professionally with the public and to work as a team member with other employees
* Supervisory experience (training and monitoring others' work)
* Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
* Ability to be flexible and handle frequent interruptions
* Strong Attention to detail
* Punctuality
* Ability to work night and weekend hours until closing, with flexibility for daytime hours and availability for emergency backup support

Some lifting and shifting of Library materials
Can be stressful during busy periods
Normal sitting, standing, and walking throughout the course of the day.
Periods of extended computer usage.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds - incoming shipments, etc.
Requires dexterity and data entry skills.
Requires noise tolerance of patrons communicating and utilizing the library.
Some nights (until midnight, 2am during finals) and weekends required

Maintain professional attitude and demeanor in difficult situations.
Ability to multitask in a very busy work environment.
Exercise sound judgment.
Maintain high level of confidentiality.
