FACILITIES ENGINEER (STRUCTURES) Our Starbase Facilities Engineering team is responsible for the design, modification and maintenance of existing SpaceX facilities in Starbase, TX. This role is highly collaborative in nature due to the dynamic environment, rapid development, and changing requirements. This exceptional candidate must also have the ability to seek out and resolve issues through close interaction with other team members, departments, end-users, and outside vendors. You will work with construction managers, engineers, vendors and internal partners/customers to support these goals. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change and own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making Starbase a great place to live, work, manufacture & launch rockets! RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the team you can expect:
- Work with the facilities team and end user in order to operationalize the post-construction building operations and maintenance functions (asset-management)
- Coordinate with end user and facilities team for building operations and maintenance
- Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out
- Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- Manage all aspects of multi-discipline construction projects in the field
- Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clients
- Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
- Oversee and own full lifecycle of projects to achieve on-time and under budget delivery with customer satisfaction
- Manage tools and folder systems relating to the organization of our construction projects
- Provide budgetary cost based upon the preliminary scope of the project
- Gather proposals from architects, engineers and contractors; assign contracts upon receipt of all proposals
- Develop the final cost and schedule for the project, and implement controls as needed to manage cost, schedule and scope
- Facilitate city, county, and governmental approvals
- Coordinate project implementation and track project status
- Manage night shift contractors as project work requires
- Take on new projects ad-hoc as the business needs
- A dynamic role doing what you're best at; designing and building infrastructure, housing, amenities, and community spaces for future of the program
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or other engineering discipline
- 1+ years of engineering, project management, construction management, facilities management, mechanical or civil or structural engineering via project team, research, internship, and/or professional experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong ability to use data and analysis to make fast data-driven decisions.
- Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) license
- Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) steel manual, American Concrete Institute (ACI) code 318, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7, and International Building Codes (IBC)
- Experience creating structural detail drawings in AutoCAD, Revit, NX, Solidworks or similar drafting programs
- Knowledge of RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, S-Concrete, ANSYS, FEMAP or similar analysis design programs
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information. Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Experience working at a nimble engineering organization or in a highly technical position that required a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner to accomplish tasks with tight time or budget constraints
- Excelled in ultra-competitive environments. You've nailed a podium finish in engineering, math, or science competitions, achieved scores in the top percentile of scholastic or standardized tests, or demonstrated other incredible feats of intellectual achievement
- Experience building hardware or have a passion for contributing to a work product that operates in the real world
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights
- Must be able to work extended hours, holidays and weekends as needed
- Remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Facility Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year Facility Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
