Responsibilities

The Quality Coordinator - Patient Safety is responsible for supporting the patient safety/quality, Ethics/Compliance, and Privacy programs at Portneuf Medical Center.

  • This includes a general knowledge of MissionZERO/high reliability strategies, error prevention techniques, coordinating the patient safety program as directed, managing and analyzing patient safety data, and conducting patient safety educational programs, ensuring the facility is compliant with patient safety related standards by accrediting and regulatory agencies as directed.
  • Supports the Ethics/Compliance and Privacy Officer with ethics/compliance/privacy matters, conducting and cooperating with investigations/auditing procedures, tracks and trends ethics/compliance/privacy reports as directed.
  • Assists/facilitates applicable improvement efforts for the facility in accordance with the organization's Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) process improvement methodology.
  • Provides support to the Director of Patient Safety, Ethics/Compliance/Privacy Officer as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or successful completion of tertiary education with equivalent clinical or quality experience (applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of hospital clinical experience or 2 years experience with quality, patient safety, and/or performance improvement in addition to tertiary education). Patient safety related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a complex health system (hospitals/ambulatory clinics).
  • Prior experience in change management and improvement science preferred (ie: LEAN, Six Sigma, & DMAIC)
  • Certification in patient safety/process improvement obtained within 2 years upon hire.
