About the Job

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding - 50%
* Coordinate recruitment of Civil Service, Labor Represented, Post-Doc and P&A Positions
o Facilitate hiring approval through department, Clinical Neuroscience Center (CNC) Finance and Central HR
o Post, monitor and finalize hiring of position posting through recruiting solutions tool
* Facilitate new hire onboarding
o Compile new hire paperwork and appointment letters
o Initiate background screens
o Conduct new hire orientation and I-9 verification
* Employment Visas
o Partner with Medical School Visa Specialist to coordinate H1-B and paid and unpaid J-1 Scholar Visa applications and extensions

Performance Management - 20%
* Performance Management
o Activate new employee reviews after start date and send notification to new employee and supervisor of activation
o Initiate, monitor and track progress and completion of civil service probationary verbal and written appraisals at the midpoint of the probationary period
o Initiate, monitor and track progress and completion for annual performance appraisals
o Draft and send out performance appraisal memo and reminders to Department Heads, Administrators, Supervisors, and Staff to ensure probationary & annual reviews are completed
o Trouble shoot system issues

Position Management - 20%
* Appointment Management for Civil Service and Labor Represented
o Monitor the compliance status of Temporary appointments
o Facilitate and implement standard hour/percent of appointment and supervisor changes
o Process terminations, end of appointment notices, and resignations
o Position description development including job code/classification determination
o Facilitate job reclassifications and job evaluations for departmental positions
o Ensure position descriptions for employees are filed in appropriate file/folder

Other Administrative Duties - 10%
* Reporting
o Compile reports based on requested metrics as needed
* CNC's HR/Payroll Website
o On a bi-annually basis, or as needed, audit and edit the CNC HR website for content accuracy and updates as needed
* Cross-train with and work as a partner with the CNC HR Generalist to provide back-up for processing Temp-Casual and Student appointments
* Update and send out CNC team anniversary announcements
* Resource to Faculty and Staff
o Interpret CNC, University, State, and Federal policies and procedures as needed

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Sociology or related area or a combination of education and/or experience to equal at least 4 years
* Demonstrated customer service experience
* Experience with Microsoft Office software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience/working knowledge of SmartSheets or ability to learn SmartSheets
* Experience/working knowledge of PeopleSoft and/or Workday

This position will be a remote work position but may require some days on campus as needed.

Salary starting at $53,000 (DOQ)

About the Department

This HR Professional position is a member of the Clinical Neuroscience Administrative Center's Human Resources team which supports the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Rehabilitation Medicine in the University of Minnesota's Medical School.
