Vehicle Integration Specialist

Description
Role Summary:

The engineer is responsible for planning and executing highly specialized and complicated measurements and align timeline and resources necessary with the corresponding departments. The engineer will also advice and train junior engineers in planning and executing function tests and test cases and how to properly document the results in systems like KPM (group complaint management). The engineer will align with Integration Management and Type Monitor and will present the finding of the tests with an approval recommendation to the committees.



    Role Responsibilities:

    Updating of Test cars

    * Perform 1st time Inbetriebnahme (Initialization and Commissioning) of cars with limited instructions/supervision

    Function Testing and Advanced Test Scenarios

    * Install advanced test equipment in cars e.g. data loggers, sleep current measurement equipment

    * Execute function checks per function check lists and document the results

    * Install highly specialized test equipment in cars e.g. High Voltage or acoustic equipment

    * Align test schedule and timeline with WOB

    * Supervise function checks for junior engineers

    * Execute and supervise complex test cases

    * Create KPM tickets for bugs/failed tests

    * Align test results within EPC Integration department

    * Execute measurements as directed per instructions e.g. acoustic measurements, range measurements

    * Present test results to function owner or responsible department in WOB

    * Escalate issues and delays to vehicle integration management and escalate in WOB

    * Knowledge of top-appraisals and top-failures of the software

    * Providing and sharing all relevant information with Type Monitor

    * Plan and prepare vehicles for Board Drives incl. management briefing

    Street Drives and Free Testing



    • Plan Street Drives and coordinate test cases
    • Participate in Street Drives and Free Testing scenarios to find customer relevant corner cases
    • Create KPM tickets for bugs/failed tests and make sure Q Gates are achieved

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Years of Experience:

    5 years of experience in automotive industry

    Education - Required:

    Bachelor's degree of English/ Bachelor's degree of Science (Electrical/ Computer Science/ Automotive/ Mechanical) or equivalent experience

    Education - Desired:

    Master's degree in English/ Master's degree in Science (Electrical/ Computer Science/ Automotive/ Mechanical) or equivalent experience

    • Ability to train junior engineers


    Specialized Skills: Required


    Knowledge in the automotive area, specifically:



    • Understanding of vehicle control module networks, including CAN bus and automotive Ethernet
    • Expert knowledge in automotive systems like ADAS, HV, Infotainment
    • Knowledge about developing testing strategies
    • Highly skilled with automotive diagnostic software tools (ODIS-S, ODIS-E, iDEX, etc.)
    • Highly skilled with vehicle network data acquisition tools, including Vector products
    • Experience collecting and interpreting technical information from available sources
    • Experience in vehicle evaluation drives from a customer perspective
    • Identification and impact evaluation of product errors and documentation in systems such as KPM
    • Publishing regular project status reports for management
    • High Voltage L3 qualified
    • General automotive work

    Specialized Skills - Desired:



    • Experience in the co-operation with VW development department(s)
    • Experience in the VW development process (PEP)
    • Experience in project management
    • German verbal and written skills


    Work Flexibility:



    • Readiness for domestic and international business trips, for example to visit special test drives, VW locations in the US, Germany, Mexico, Canada or the R&D-Center in Wolfsburg
    • Readiness for professional training in Germany and / or Mexico (for a longer training period)
