Quality Scientist II

Position Summary

This Quality Scientist II position is responsible for executing department specific tasks in accordance with all applicable cGMPs and compliant with Corporate/site procedures, regulations, and policies. This role is responsible for coordinating and processing daily samples, with minimal direction from Team Leader, to ensure testing is complete. This role will also participate in investigations and/or projects to increase productivity in the Quality Control Labs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Testing in-process samples, blended vaccines and final containers for all applicable assays utilizing good aseptic practices with minimal supervision.
  • To understand the performance and trending of the assays responsible and maintain all critical reagents with minimal guidance.
  • Preparation of media and reagents
  • Participate in Media Fill inspections.
  • Maintaining testing schedules with minimal direction and guidance
  • Completion of documentation following cGMP guidelines.
  • Write, execute and report validation studies, and investigational protocols.
  • Writing and revising Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Methods
  • Writing Investigations when necessary, utilizing Method 1 and the DMAIC process
  • Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, instrumentation, and facility.
  • Providing minimum input for laboratory investigations (LIR), minimal project support.
  • Understanding of the QC software packages used during routine work.
  • Pipette work.
  • pH and Appearance testing.
  • Egg Drilling.
  • Media Fill inspections.
  • Equipment Monitoring.
  • Gram Stain work.
  • Following all Zoetis Quality Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS STEM Degree or AA with 1-3 years' experience.
  • General knowledge of the following software programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to positively embrace change and flexibility in adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work well independently and as a part of a team, and ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization.
  • Gain Proficiency in 50% of the testing in a specified area.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions with coaching.
  • Knowledge of Basic GLP requirements.
  • Basic Problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability.

Physical Position Requirements

  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
  • Must be able to work scheduled 40 hours with the ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of 5 to 25 lbs.
  • Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Flexibility to cover rotating weekend duties.
  • Ability to grasp and manipulate objects like pipettors, flasks, and bottles.
