Role Description

The Master Data Steward will support business process improvement initiatives, business continuity and technology initiatives for Durham GMS.The role requires a comprehensive understanding of existing business process and procedures and can demonstrate the ability to identify, design and implement process improvements, as well as provide ongoing technical support by triaging system related inquiries. This position will be responsible for the administration of Master Data Governance (MDG) for materials at Durham GMS source plant and throughout the Global Supply Chain. Ensuring data accuracy throughout the Supply Chain is a key output of this role that involves alignment with cross functional teams.

  • Provide business process guidance on SAP requirements and design, specifically in the area of Warehouse Management (Inventory Management, Storage Bin management, Warehouse control, Goods movements and related Master Data) and Logistics Execution (Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Physical Inventory, Quality Management and related Master Data)
  • Business support for SAP Material Master and variant configurator, including maintenance, technical troubleshooting, process review and training
  • Manage site master data projects and ensure master data integrity to ensure uninterrupted services on a day-to-day basis utilizing system tools and process driven procedures
  • Be the escalation point for the Durham GMS site user community to determine root cause and facilitatesolutionthrough execution
  • Assist with triage of SAP, document production issues and work with ZTD & GMS to bring to resolution
  • Responsible for overall item add process including working cross functionally to ensure data accuracy and on time delivery for new materials or maintenance of existing materials throughout the Supply Chain
  • Assure all information in the variant configurator aligns with information in VMRD documentation
  • Responsible for maintenance of bill of materials and perform BOM analysis
  • Identify root causes of data quality problems and implement sustainable solutions
  • Work with Business counterparts to ensure audit, SOX, and other compliance requirements regarding master data
  • Generate analysis or reports to effectively support Durham GMS
  • Support continuous improvement projects and initiatives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering with 4-6 years of experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Power BI for data manipulation and reporting
  • Strong understanding and experience in the SAP supply chain modules (PP, SD, MM, WM)
  • Functional knowledge and experience of SAP Variant Configurator, Material Master and BOMs
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of supply chain concepts including but not limited to warehousing, inventory, planning and material scheduling
  • Understanding of business analysis and business process improvement methodologies

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years of demonstrated experience with Operations from a Technical Perspective
  • Manufacturing Industry (Discrete Manufacturing), preferred
  • Managing large volumes of data transactions
  • Process improvement (LEAN, Six Sigma) or project management experience, preferred
  • Ability to configure and implement SAP Variant Configuration functionality.
  • Experience working in core manufacturing business processes in the following key functional areas:
    • Production / Operations / Inventory Management
    • Purchasing / Master Planning (MRP)
    • Warehouse Management
    • Scheduling
    • Master Data / Bill of materials
    • Distribution/Logistics
  • Meticulous attention to detail for maintaining data integrity
  • Self-starter who demonstrates ability to self-educate using available resources
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be an analytical thinker and comfortable with taking initiative
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects and drive outcomes.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and willing to learn and connect

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Work environment is in an office cubicle and parts inventory environment.
