The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students, recent graduates, and internal employees the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide experience and insight into the culture

Summary

Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday - Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, external candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution orhave graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Candidates who do not meet our guideline will not be considered. This position will start in August and end in December 2024, with a possibility for extension through May 2025. Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time.

Responsibilities

An intern in the production control area would focus on learning the production control functions and systems. They would be working with manufacturing departments, coordinating and tracking production vehicle orders from before body shop through CP8. The production control intern will learn to ensure a stable production order flow throughout the process and support production departments in abnormal situations. A successful intern will have attention to detail, follow standard operating procedures, communicate with all levels of management, and develop, improve, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). The intern will communicate production updates with management and suppliers regarding overtime, downtime, and other issues which might occur. This role is very computer based and requires a lot of interaction with various VW Proprietary Production Control Software, which requires the ability to write various SQL queries.

This role is posted to target supporting 2nd shift,following the Assembly shift pattern (2pm -10:30pm), with flexibility to learn from with all 3 shifts during the internship.

Pay / Benefits

Pay rates for External Candidates (not current employees):

Junior $18/hour

Senior $20/hour

Recent Graduate $24/hour

Master's Student $27/hour

2 days of paid time off per term
