As the Production Support Engineer with expertise in supporting, troubleshooting, and debugging modern data platforms and data pipelines to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of our modern data platforms being built using Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, and Airflow all hosted on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for owning the incident management process and handling customer-reported issues, triage them for resolution within defined SLAs, and ensure timely communication and updates to customers regarding issue status and resolution progress.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Provide support for our Global Data Lake platform hosted on GCP and Snowflake, promptly responding to alerts and incidents to minimize service disruptions.
  • Utilize your expertise in data and analytics systems to monitor and maintain the health and performance of our data platform architecture and pipelines, identifying and troubleshooting issues related to application functionality, performance, and availability.
  • Conduct thorough troubleshooting and debugging of application issues, collaborating with development teams to implement timely resolutions and prevent recurrence.
  • Own the incident management process and handle customer-reported issues, triage them for resolution within defined SLAs, and ensure timely communication and updates to customers regarding issue status and resolution progress.
  • Document incident details, resolutions, and preventive measures, maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base for reference.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents, identifying underlying causes and recommending improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, DevOps, and release management, to ensure smooth production releases and deployments of new features and updates. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in cloud computing, modern data platforms, and application support, continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science or a related field, or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 1 year of Production support experience
  • 1 year of Data Warehousing experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Previous experience in a technical production support role for a modern data platform hosted on GCP or similar cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Proficiency in data warehousing, modern data platforms (snowflake preferred), cloud computing, orchestration (airflow) and management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience with data warehousing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-call support environment, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers.
