About This Role:



The College of Arts & Sciences at Kansas State University has an opening for an academic advisor to support programs in the Natural and Quantitative Sciences. We seek a dedicated student-centered individual to help prepare students for success by connecting them with educational experiences tailored to their specific goals and needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and a sincere desire to assist students with appropriate course selection and development of academic and career goals while supporting student development in self-understanding and agency. It is expected that advisors will possess extensive knowledge about the university academic programs, policies, procedures, and student support services. Organizational and communication skills, timeliness, cooperation, and collaboration in a team environment are essential. Salary is commensurate with experience.

What You'll Need to Succeed:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Mentoring, teaching, and/or advising experience in a STEM-related field
  • 3-6 years' advising related experience
  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Strong commitment to student success
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of NACADA Core Competencies and best practices in academic advising
  • Understanding and knowledge of the mission of the College of Arts & Sciences, its programs and the programs offered at Kansas State University
  • Familiarity or experience with first-year students
  • Experience with student success tools such as SSC Navigate, familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
