Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting

Our client, a leading technology company, is seeking a Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to develop and scale their accounting function. This role will support the accounting close process, assist in strategic initiatives to streamline the close process, and oversee key financial processes related to revenue accounting, commissions, and accounts receivable. Additionally, the Senior Manager will partner with the Finance Systems and Engineering teams to identify and implement automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain revenue recognition policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with ASC 606.
  • Analyze and interpret complex revenue recognition scenarios, including subscription-based models, usage-based models, and professional services revenue.
  • Partner with FP&A in developing financial models and scenarios for strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in the month-end financial statement close process by reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting on results to internal stakeholders.
  • Continually develop, expand, and improve month-end close and financial reporting procedures, helping drive the reduction of the close timeline by assessing and streamlining close-related activities.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach a team of 2 accountants.
  • Partner with Finance Systems and Engineering to identify and implement automation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand business operations and provide financial guidance.
  • Oversee the daily operations of accounts receivable, including policy management.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years at a Big 4 accounting firm and 3 years in industry.
  • Experience working in SaaS.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
  • CPA designation and strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Passion for building systems and process improvements, thriving in bringing process and organization to complex environments.
  • Experience implementing an ERP, revenue recognition, or billing system.
  • Ability to lead projects independently.
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
