Function:

Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary:The Rotating Equipment Engineer ensures plant efficiency by maintaining machinery and improving reliability. Responsibilities include tracking reliability statistics, implementing solutions, and developing maintenance plans. This is a safety sensitive position that works onsite. You will report to the Maintenance Manager and belong to the Maintenance and Reliability team. Job Description:

You Will:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expertise in rotating equipment, including piping systems and stationary equipment.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure site machinery practices and documentation align with PSM Mechanical Integrity standards.
  • Support Reliability Technicians: Analyze data from condition monitoring rounds and offer recommendations.
  • Repair: Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure machinery repairs and documentation.
  • Maintenance Procedures: Update critical maintenance procedures for rotating equipment.
  • Safety Audits: Coordinate Rotating Equipment Safety and Reliability Audits, ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Reliability Improvement: Report MTBR (Mean Time Between Repairs) for rotating equipment, implementing plans to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Troubleshooting: Lead troubleshooting efforts for onsite rotating equipment issues, conducting failure analyses and reporting findings.
  • Emergency Support: Provide technical support for emergency machinery work outside regular hours.
  • Best Practices: Represent the site on the corporate best practice team for rotating equipment.
  • Project Management: Manage projects related to machinery upgrades or replacements.
  • Equipment Selection: Help specify and review new rotating equipment before purchase, including spare parts recommendations.
  • Condition Monitoring: Contribute to onsite equipment condition monitoring (vibration analysis, oil sampling, thermography, ultrasonic inspection).
  • Preventive Maintenance: Design and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs for critical equipment.
  • Turnarounds and Planning: Assist the maintenance department in planning site turnarounds, shutdowns, and special projects.
  • Inventory Optimization: Review inventory spare parts and recommend adjustments.
  • Engineering Oversight: Oversee basic design, detailed engineering, and procurement activities for Rotating Equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, blowers, turbines).
  • Fixed Equipment Support: Assist plant engineering with fixed equipment-related tasks.

You Have:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience: 5 years in rotating equipment engineering within a chemical plant or refinery.
  • Chemical Plant or Refinery Familiarity: with manufacturing processes and equipment used for anhydrous ammonia and urea fertilizers.
  • Specific Expertise with Rotating Equipment: in rotating and reciprocating machinery practices, failure analysis, vibration analysis, precision alignment, and baseplate grouting procedures.
  • Code Knowledge: Industrial codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, State).
