What you'll do
In Viasat's Mobility Segment Product Management Team, we are looking for a technically focused product leader who can shape the direction and drive ongoing success of our Mobility Connectivity Platform. In this role, you will lay down the charter for greater adoption and performance of the current product while identifying new ways to expand its value in the market to drive growth. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and leading both product and engineering teams, experience managing products as-built and an affinity for technical challenges, strong collaboration and influence skills, and a strong track record of delivering results.
The day-to-day
Responsibilities:
- Lead staff of Product Owners/ Product Managers/ Product Leads , responsible for defining and delivering Product Roadmaps for as-built Mobility Connectivity Platform
- Manage team resources, performance, budget
- Manage product roadmap(s) that lays out your overall strategy, striking a balance between client requests, market demands, technology investments, and your own creative ideas
- Develop and iterate Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) in conjunction with market requirements
- Own the product vision and evangelize it throughout the organization - clearly articulate and justify the WHAT and WHY of any product effort
- Own the product business case, advocating for funding and resourcing for the product to realize value
- Bring the "voice of the customer" to the product by working closely with internal product teams, sales, marketing, customer success, operations, and users to prioritize feasibility, viability, and desirability of requirements.
- Define interfaces with various internal or partner solutions where applicable
- Interact with partners, customers, and prospects to define market requirements, and translate these requirements into market requirements (MRDs) that the engineering team can deliver to, on time, and within budget
- Collaborate with various business segments on new product initiatives and feature releases
- Be data-driven and focus on customer insights to develop product features and own product lifecycle through maturity.
- Act as the single POC for product needs, roadmap, prioritization, and communication of product plan across customer and stakeholder community
- Engage with the relevant solution partners and ecosystem players - both technically and commercially
- Use metrics to drive a deep understanding of our product market fit and its uses: evangelize, educate, and engage stakeholders
- Facilitate build vs buy analysis for technology selection for the product development activities
- Drive success of the final product and improvement iterations on an ongoing basis with the team and other stakeholders
- Present periodically to senior executives at the corporation on the continuous evolution of product portfolio
What you'll need
Requirements
- 7+ years managing one or more products or experience like the above essential functions
- 5+ years as a software engineer and/or managing engineering teams within a product development organization
- Demonstrated experience working with global teams, strong collaboration, and communications skills
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
- Highly motivated self-starter with experience working with Scaled Agile Framework development teams
- Demonstrated experience influencing and leading cross functional teams to drive and deliver business cases to introduce and launch product capabilities
- Fast learner and comfortable with technical details. You have credibility with the engineering community about technical tradeoffs, scalability, and performance
- Demonstrated experience understanding of customer focused design thinking process
- Are productive. You know how to identify the most important issues, prioritize your time, and deliver results consistently
- Passionate about solving problems for customers and can define compelling products that address those needs
- Experience with executive stakeholder management
- Bachelor's degree, CS degree or equivalent experience is preferred (MBA / master's degree a plus)
- Experience in Aviation and/or Maritime industry a plus
- Able to travel up to 20%

Salary range
$176,500.00 - $251,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $219,500.00- $296,500.00/ annually
