Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Coordinator I, Student Life is responsible for coordinating general functions in Student Life. Functions may include coordination of service, purchasing, delivery of materials, events, or resources. May be responsible for tracking budget expenditures or other items and/or services. Uses excellent customer service skills in contact with college students, staff, faculty, and community members. The Coordinator I reports to Program Manager for Student Life, and must maintain ongoing and effective communication with key student services personnel for the centers. This person may also be asked to assist with special projects as assigned by the Office of Student Life.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Schedules events and meetings; maintains Student Life activities special events calendars
  2. Assesses student needs at North Harris and the centers to guide the development of Student Life events to meet those needs
  3. Coordinates catering, technology, and facilities needs for Student Life events
  4. Purchases supplies and promotional specialty items for Student Life office and student organizations
  5. Assists in Student Life budget planning process by tracking budget expenditures and monitoring student organizations' budget tracking process
  6. Assists student organizations in completing essential paperwork for student travel and event planning
  7. Assists with maintenance of Student Life website, assisting student organizations with advertising events and meetings
  8. Promotes development of student organizations at North Harris and the centers, and assists students in the creation of new student organizations; provides essential training for student organization members and sponsors
  9. Disperses Student Life related information to students; creates promotional flyers for Student Life events; maintains campus bulletin boards and Student Life poster frames throughout campus
  10. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with common office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.)
  • Exemplary people and communication skills are critical
  • Ability to create and display PowerPoint presentations
  • Time management and strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and respond in a timely fashion
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and positively serve a diverse population
  • Ability to prioritize own work and to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidential information

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is 16.40.
