About the Role

Reporting to the Sr. IT/IS Manager, you will be responsible for the deployment of our brand-new data centers within our new 1.8 million square foot manufacturing facility. This is your opportunity to build a new server network from the ground up working closely with other members of the IT Team. After initial data center deployments are complete, the role will transition to day-to-day management of the data center environment. Duties will primarily involve the systems administration of multiple Windows and Linux systems running on Hyper-V and VMWare. This position will also be responsible for all system storage as well as data backup and disaster recovery systems. Your work within the IT Team will directly impact our strategic goals and contribute to our position as a global leader in battery technology.

What You Will Do
  • Work with local, regional, and global IT resources to properly plan and deploy two new data centers within our new manufacturing plant.
  • Work with building facilities management to ensure proper power and cooling is delivered to the data centers to ensure constant network availability.
  • Take ownership of data center changes, incidents, problem management and issue resolution.
  • Rack and stack servers, storage and network hardware ensuring optimum hot/cold aisles and maintain a professional and orderly data center with proper cable management.
  • Implement and maintain a highly available network server infrastructure.
  • Provision, maintain and support new physical servers with a mix of VMWare, Hyper-V and Linux.
  • Provision, maintain and support new virtual servers running a mix of Windows and Linux.
  • Provision, maintain and support new storage systems including Fiber Channel and iSCSI Storage Arrays.
  • Provision, maintain and support new data backup appliances and systems.
  • Manage a Microsoft Active Directory Environment
  • Work with network infrastructure engineers to provide network connectivity to physical and virtual servers.
  • Work with application engineers to provide OS level support for application development.
  • Provide systems support to other IT staff and end users as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of the data center environments.
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technical training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with racking / stacking a variety of server, storage and network hardware in a data center environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining highly available, large compute / storage environments utilizing the following technologies:
    • Virtualization through Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare
    • High availability of Windows and Linux Servers
    • High availability of Fiber Channel and iSCSI Storage Arrays
    • Redhat Linux 7.8 and up
    • Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
    • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Experience with server monitoring and maintenance.
  • Proven track record of successful disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Understanding of basic network concepts including firewall, routing, switching and VLANs.
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure power and cooling systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving techniques for issue resolution.
  • Team oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record of learning new technologies and environments quickly.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously and be able to manage priorities.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Manufacturing background, battery, or EV manufacturing a plus.
  • Experience with the following specific technologies:
    • VMWare Stretch Clustering
    • Hyper-V Clusters
    • F5 Load Balances
    • Oracle Data Guard, Real Application Clustering (RAC)
    • Microsoft Remote Desktop Virtualization / Thin Clients
    • Dell OpenManage and Dell iDRAC
    • Dell PowerEdge and PowerStore Devices
    • Dell Data Protect
  • Incident, problem, and change management.
  • Experience with network services such as DHCP and DNS.
  • Professional certifications from Microsoft, VMWare, Oracle, etc.
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageous.
  • Cross-cultural experience.
Travel

Occasional domestic travel required.

Work Environment
