* Review and prepare procurement documentation germane to quality assurance, quality engineering, and quality control requirements.
* Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications contributing to the overall objective of sustaining an effective engineering, procurement, and program Quality Management System.
* Perform onsite NCR investigations and verifications.
* Coordinate and/or conduct audits and surveillances of quality-affecting engineering, procurement, construction, and ancillary project work.
Minimum Job Requirements
Quality Engineer 2
* Knowledge and application of nuclear codes and standards. For example: 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, national consensus standard ASME NQA-1-2008/ASME NQA-1a-2009 Addenda to ASME NQA-1 - 2008, ISO 9001, and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent.
* Knowledge of the application of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code for the procurement, fabrication, inspection, testing and In-Service inspection & evaluation of Pressure Vessels and Piping.
* Experience participating in and supporting quality assessments, surveillances, audits and/or Non-Conformance disposition and closure.
* Ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
* Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel across multiple organizations to solve complex problems.
* Sufficient application experience to comprehend specified requirements in disciplines that include welding, nondestructive testing, geometric dimensioning, and tolerance.
* Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction practices sufficient to comprehend specified requirements in disciplines that include Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and application of the graded approach in an NQA-1 environment.
* Three years of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector - American Welding Society (AWS-CWI)
* Current certification or previous certifications in three or more of the following NDE Level II Inspection (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT), Piping or Pressure Vessel Inspection, Mechanical Inspections.
* Currently have or can obtain a Q level Clearance.
* Work will be an onsite LANL representative at a vessel construction subcontractor's facility in either the Midwest or Northeast
* Domestic travel is required.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, or industrial systems engineering or a related field and 7 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
