About This Role:

The Accounting Manager will supervise the day-to-day accounting functions of the assigned department(s) within the College of Agriculture/K-State Research & Extension's Business Services Unit. Hire, train, and supervise Accounting Team to provide smooth workflow, uninterrupted services, and process improvements for accounting areas.



  • Facilitate and oversee the accounting of all revenues and expenditures for assigned unit(s). Supervise Accounting Team staff as they produce payment documents, deposits, and reconcile accounts. Act with autonomy to create and implement process improvements. Manage staff workload and determine and document internal processes and procedures as new projects arise.
  • Manage/Oversee the entire grant accounting process for assigned unit(s). Monitor the flow of proposals, complete or supervise the completion of post-award modifications and reports, and provide grant activity information to faculty and Department Head(s). Review payments, notify affected parties, and prepare financial projections and reports for faculty.


Worksite:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with K-State or higher ed financial processes and paperwork.
  • Computer proficiency/ability to learn new systems. This position uses the Microsoft office suite, accounting systems, and K-State systems such as FIS, HRIS, eForms and Concur.
  • Ability to learn quickly, determine priorities, take initiative, work independently and perform highly detailed tasks.
  • Experience responding to clients in a friendly and effective manner.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with supervising, evaluating and coaching employees.
